Our Story

In 1981, Richard and Tina Grohmann planted their first rows of Scotch Pine Christmas trees, beginning a family tradition that would grow for generations. Richard was a crop and livestock farmer. While waiting for the first crop of Christmas trees to establish and grow, Richard and Tina kept busy with the many other aspects of farm life. They raised purebred Landrace pigs, farmed 10 acres of strawberries, and grew row crops and hay. Tina also worked at USPS. Richard was fortunate to have a great mentor in Richard Grady of Grady’s Tree Farm, who taught him how to care for and grow Christmas trees. The work was—and continues to be—an ongoing learning process. Planting, shaping, spraying, pruning, and learning the business all became part of the journey. Eventually, those first trees were ready, and Richard and Tina opened the farm to customers. Over time, they expanded beyond Christmas trees, creating fresh greenery pieces and developing a wholesale business. By the late 1980s, word had spread across the county. Families who had purchased their first Christmas tree from Richard and Tina began returning year after year. Eventually, those same families started bringing their own children and grandchildren. The farm had become something more than a business—it had become a tradition, a landmark, and a place where families returned each Christmas season to make memories together. What started with a few rows of Scotch Pine in 1981 continues today, rooted in hard work, family, farming, and a love for the Christmas season.
